If there’s one type of experience in VR that will give you a rush it’s a coaster demo.

Only last week we created a video with our Top 5 coaster demos to try but this new demo called HELIX would have easily made the grade.

What’s unusual about this demo is that its actually based on a real life coaster in Europe called the HELIX. You start in a media room sitting on a sofa watching a large screen. A promo video appears for the ride and after the short amount of time you are suddenly warped into the screen and find yourself sitting on the coaster. This is a great transition effect as you see your body stretching into the screen.

As you look around you see some Avatars who are animated and scream as you barrel roll around the one and a half kilometres of track.

This experience is very slick and everything about this coaster demo shouts out quality. The graphics look fantastic and the demo runs very smooth. We have included a video of the developers ArchiVision on the real live coaster to show you that the experience is one to one with what is seen in the rift.

Even if you have a passing interest in the coasters that have been released on the Rift so far I would recommend you check HELIX out. Not only is it one of the best coasters out there but it is also one of the most polished short experiences available today for VR.
