It’s very rare in our lives’ that you experience something that will alter how you perceive the world and your place in it. It’s very rare in our lives’ that you experience something that will alter how you perceive the world and your place in it. It’s even rarer that this might happen through a digital experience like a video game or movie, however Titans of Space is one of those experiences that will stay with you for many years to come.

Titans of Space is a trip around our Solar System and gives you educational information about the planets and moons as your passing them on a display screen which is placed just in front of you while you sit in a tiny space capsule.  This experience was designed specifically for the Rift and all the menus and text are perfectly readable with a great attention to detail.

Virtual Reality 2It’s no exaggeration to say that when I had my first trip in Titans of Space I sat with my mouth wide open just gazing at the planets.

Looking at the pictures on screen doesn’t do this experience justice. The immense size of the objects you’re looking at can only really be experienced on the Rift. It’s the sense of scale which makes this experience so special.  When you get close to the sun you really feel small and if I was to give a comparison it’s like standing at the bottom of a skyscraper and looking up and only barley seeing the top.

All the time while you are taking in the wonders of the solar system your listing to subtle music that gradually increases with intensity as you reach out further in the solar system. This is a perfect match for the visuals and is a really inspired choice of music as it really conveys the sense of scale the developer was looking to achieve.

Titans of Space really shows off the power that Virtual Reality can have if used for educational purposes as  going through this tour a few times will really make an impact on you and viewing the planets in motion is a hell of a lot more memorable then reading any amount of text out of a book.

In short if you don’t have an Oculus Rift and ever get offered a demo to view its potential,  number one on your list should be Titans of Space. Not only is it really fun but it will expand your mind.
