PlayStation VR bundle announced for North America

With Sony’s announcement at GDC last week of the arrival of PlayStation VR this October, it was inevitable that there would also be news of bundles to pre-order.

The fact that straight out of the box Sony’s new VR hardware won’t work for anyone who hasn’t previously purchased the PlayStation Eye camera means that the Japanese tech giant would have no choice but to offer bundles with the camera included. Although not necessary to play games or experiences with the PSVR, the PlayStation Move controllers also do not come pre-packed with the headset. However, Sony maintains for the best experience and to take advantage of hand gestures and motion control the PS Move is an essential add-on.

At the moment, the bundle is only offered in North America with no word as of yet of a European release.  Pre-orders are open from Tuesday the 22nd of March at 7:00 a.m. PT, however according to Sony quantities are limited for the first wave but that they intend to release a second wave of pre-orders this summer.

Along with the PlayStation VR and everything that comes boxed with the headset, the bundle will also include the PlayStation Camera, 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers, a PlayStation VR Demo Disc and Sony’s London Studio launch game PlayStation VR Worlds.

The bundle is priced at $499 US dollars, which for anyone looking to get their first VR experience is still cheaper than the Rift or Vive, especially for those of us who already own a PlayStation 4.
