Rift shipping is underway

It has been a very long wait for anyone who has wanted to be a proud owner of an Oculus Rift VR headset. Since Palmer Lucky launched the Kickstarter campaign way back in 2012 the world has watched and waited in great anticipation and agony for the headset to be released among the masses.  Even since Oculus pre-orders went live in January, March 28th must have seemed a long way down the road.

It’s true that there are quite a few VR headsets out there at this moment, Oculus themselves have released a few different development kits over the last few years but unless you were an early adopter or a developer it’s unlikely you would have had access to Virtual Reality. Samsung Gear VR was officially released late last year, however, the Rift has been the big one, the headset that has started it all and the one that has so much hype built around it.  A big struggle with VR is you can’t explain it to someone and how putting on the headset and then flying through space or being deep under water on the bottom of the ocean while sitting at home is going to blow them away.

So for everyone who has waited and for anyone who doesn’t even know how much things are going to change the day is almost upon us. Oculus is finally starting to ship to both pre-orders and Kickstarter backers across the world.
